    • There are 27 stars on the Brazilian flag. They represent the federal states.
    • The stars are in the pattern they were in the day the last emperor lost power.

    • Soccer is the biggest sport in brazil. The national team has won five times which is the most of any country. The 2014 world cup will be played in brazil.

    • Built in 1950 the Maracana stadium is one of the most famous soccer stadiums in the world. During the 1950s it was the biggest stadium in the world but later it fell into disrepair. It is now being repaired for the 2014 world cup in Brazil.

    • One popular dish in Brazil is Feijoada. This is traditional in most parts of Brazil. It is made of beans and pork.

    • Brazil’s culture and people very due to the different influences. Brazilians are always laughing, chatting, and having a great time. With their many festivals Brazil is a great place to live.

    • One of the most fun times of the year in Brazil and especially in Rio is the carnival. The carnival is a celebration going into lent. During the carnival the streets are flooded with parades of people in costumes. Balls are also traditional in the carnival.

    • One of the most amazing parts of Brazil is the amazon rainforest and river. This is the largest rainforest an the second longest river in the world. Living deep in the jungle are natives. Some experts say that some of these native tribes have never had contact with the modern world.

    • The beach of itapua is usually around 79 degrees and is one of Brazils best loved beaches. Itapua means “rock that sings”. There are calm waves and is the best place if you want to get away from the bustling streets of the cities.

    • Music in Brazil was not always popular but in the 1930s radio spread quickly. One of the biggest singers was Carmen Miranda.

    • Due to poor economic problems, education in Brazil has been bad in the past ten years. However now Brazil is building better schools and education is getting better. About one in ten grown men in brazil are illiterate.

    • Iguaçu is a water fall on the southern border of Argentina. Iguaçu falls were discovered in 1541. Many well known people have visited the falls. 275 falls come crashing down creating one of the most amazing places on earth.

    • The new president of Brazil as of January 2011 is Dilma Rousseff. President Rousseff is the first women president. Her mentor President Lula da Silva was one of the most popular presidents.

    • Brazil is a federal republic. In brazil there is a president and a senate and they are voted into office. There is also a congress and a chamber of deputies. The senate and the chamber make up the national congress.

    • The most popular religion in brazil is Roman Catholic. Roman Catholic seems to have spread mainly in the time when there were many slaves and a lot of priests and monks. Other religions in brazil are Lutheran, Baptist, and Methodists.
