  1. 1. New Requirement beginning July 1, 2012 (those who renew in 2013) Reflection Evidence of work that demonstrates professional reflection and growth in best teaching practices.
  2. 2. WHO <ul><li>Full time teachers </li></ul><ul><li>Long-term substitutes, who have taught 15 consecutive days in a teaching assignment during any part of the five-year period. </li></ul>
  3. 3. Exempt <ul><li>Classroom teachers who have not taught for any portion of the 5 year renewal period. </li></ul><ul><li>Licensed school administrators, including principals, who have not taught for any portion of the 5 year renewal period. </li></ul><ul><li>School social workers, school psychologists,counselors, speech-language pathologists, school nurse. </li></ul>
  4. 4. Criteria <ul><li>A written statement prepared by the teacher that demonstrates reflection on accomplishments and includes self-assessment of professional growth using one of the following types of evidence; </li></ul><ul><li>1.) Support for student learning </li></ul><ul><li>2.) Use of best practices and application </li></ul><ul><li>3.) Collaborative work with colleagues, i.e. committee work, staff development, PLC’s </li></ul><ul><li>4.) Continual professional development, i.e. job embedded, coursework. </li></ul>
  5. 5. WHEN <ul><li>The reflective statement can be submitted any time during 5 year renewal period. </li></ul>
  6. 6. How will it be evaluated? <ul><li>The CERO committee is not expected to evaluate the merits of the reflective statement or self-assessment. </li></ul><ul><li>The committee verifies that the statement was submitted and that it meets language described above. </li></ul><ul><li>There is no maximum or minimum length for the reflective statement. </li></ul>
  7. 7. Addendum <ul><li>The statement belongs to the teacher who writes it for license renewal purposes. </li></ul><ul><li>The reflective statement will not be shared with other district employees without the teacher’s consent </li></ul>
