    2. 2. The committee consists of: <ul><li>5 teachers </li></ul><ul><li>1 administrator </li></ul><ul><li>1 resident designated by the board. </li></ul><ul><li>This committee meets 4 times a year. </li></ul>
    3. 3.     4. 4. Renewal Requirements <ul><li>All teachers are required to earn 125 continuing education clock hours within the 5 year license period. This must be completed prior to renewing a teaching license. </li></ul><ul><li>There are 10 categories in which you can earn clock hours. You will need hours in at least 2 of these areas. i.e. college credit, workshops, staff development… </li></ul>
    5. 5. Mandatory Requirements <ul><li>As of 2012, there are 5 mandatory requirements. You must have clock hours in the following areas: </li></ul><ul><li>Differentiation (Accommodation, Modifications, etc.) </li></ul><ul><li>Technology Integration </li></ul><ul><li>Positive Behavior Intervention </li></ul><ul><li>Literacy </li></ul><ul><li>Mental Health </li></ul><ul><li>Reflective Statement (2013) (See Reflection PowerPoint) </li></ul>
    6. 6. Keep Certified <ul><li>Keep Certified is the new program that will keep track of all clock hours for ISD 197 licensed staff. (only non-district licensed staff will continue to use the CERO form on the district website.) </li></ul>
    7. 7. Change in Procedure for Licensed Staff <ul><li>ISD 197 licensed staff will no longer be using the CERO form. (We are moving toward going paperless.) </li></ul><ul><li>All district staff development, workshops and TIES classes will be recorded in Keep Certified by curriculum office, building rep, or TIES instructor after you have attended. </li></ul><ul><li>Any hours earned outside of the district (i.e. college classes, conferences, etc.) will need to be recorded on Keep Certified and then a verification form (transcripts, certificate of attendance) will need to be submitted to the CERO committee. </li></ul>
    8. 8. Submitting a Verification Form <ul><li>Once outside hours are recorded in Keep Certified, make a copy of the verification form and send the copy to the: </li></ul><ul><li>CERO Committee </li></ul><ul><li>District Office </li></ul><ul><li>CERO committee will process your hours at the next scheduled meeting. </li></ul>
    9. 9. Time to Renew <ul><li>You can renew after Jan. 1st the year your license expires and you have met all the criteria on Keep Certified. (We recommend you renew ASAP.) </li></ul><ul><li>Once requirements are recorded on Keep Certified, the CERO committee will approve your hours for renewal on the MDE (Minnesota Department of Education) website. :) </li></ul><ul><li>For renewing on the MDE, you will need your file folder number and the first 6 digits from the serial number on your license. </li></ul>
    10. 10. Tips <ul><li>Be sure to sign attendance sheet at district workshops. </li></ul><ul><li>Check your Keep Certified record regularly. Contact Curriculum office with discrepancies. </li></ul><ul><li>Renew license as early as possible. </li></ul><ul><li>Keep original verification form/send copy. </li></ul>
