    • Facts about Catalonia:
    • We have our own language, Catalan, and
    • we also speak Spanish, so we are bilingual.
    • The Catalan government
    • is called Generalitat.
    • This is our flag
        • Montilla is our president
  • 5. CATALAN TRADITIONS
  • 6. Traditions
    • Catalonian festivals and traditions unify Catalan society and help to give it its particular character.
    • We are going to talk about some of these traditions. We hope you like them.
  • 7. Correfoc
    • The correfocs is a festival, in which "devils" play with fire and with people. These devils are not evil; they are full of energy, happy and gay, dancing to the sound of drums and the gralla (a tradicional instrument), while they the fireworks go off.
  • 8. Sardanes
    • Sardana is considered to be the Catalan national dance. It is danced in circles while the music is playing.
  • 9.
    • Another tradition takes place during the spring festival of Sant Jordi ( St.George’s Day ).
    • There’s a story about a dragon and a princess. On this day, people give each other roses and books as presents.
    Sant Jordi
  • 10. THE END
    • These aren’t all of our traditions, but now at least you know about the most important amongst them.
