  1. 1. YEAR 10, 2009 Facing the future: Shaping the Future An Inquiry-based Project

What is it? <ul><li>It is a Collaborative Learning Project (CLP) that has a future focus and a global one. </li></ul><ul><li>It’s an opportunity to be involved in hands-on research in an area of particular interest to you </li></ul><ul><li>You will be investigating a key question or problem from an area of shared interest. </li></ul>

Focus Areas <ul><li>This area of interest will be based on your own reflections about: </li></ul><ul><li>what matters to you – eg environmental concerns, business and finance, </li></ul><ul><li>what you would like to know more about – eg astronomy; higher order mathematics; world literature; philosophy </li></ul><ul><li>what you might like to better at – eg creative writing; dramatic or musical performance; multimedia technologies; visual arts; design </li></ul>
  4. 4. Focus areas: eg fashion/design, textiles/Business
  5. 5. Your Project will be an open-ended and in-depth inquiry, guided by your teachers. <ul><li>It will have these features: </li></ul><ul><li>1. Real world in a global context </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Speak to/liaise with people outside school community </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Involve interviews or surveys; global resources of a ‘primary nature’ (eg OECD data) </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Issue itself can be a current global one </li></ul></ul>

You will become an expert in your field through collaboration: <ul><ul><li>Each person in group takes one of the big questions from their investigation – become the expert </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Experts come together to share (no one is doing the same thing as anyone else in group) </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Collaborative – not just cooperative </li></ul></ul>

Being connected with the wider world <ul><ul><li>Experts in the field </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Workshops </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>University </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Excursions to different places and spaces </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Students in other places (eg those you’ve met on exchange) </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Think of City Experience+, Broken Hill+ </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Now you’re taking on the world </li></ul></ul>
