1. How to Video Blog Your Math Lessons
Initially: Set up accounts at
www.slideshare.net (to upload notes and documents)
www.blogger.com (to upload your videos)
click create a new blog
create a title and domain name and design
(you will have time to create and update your blog later)
Install a microphone
Ask your computer support department for one or you may have to buy one. Available on Amazon:

Logitech Labtec Desktop Microphone 600
Plug the microphone into the pink & blue port in the back of your computer & this menu will
popup. Then select from the drop down menu “microphone” and click “ok”
Always click “Show Content” if it pops up

2. How to record your lessons:
Open Smart Notebook
Click the small blue square with the white circle on the bottom right corner of the toolbar
Select “Recorder”
Then this menu will appear. Press the red button to record.
****Then this may appear. Select the “1” to record what appears on the smartboard. (you may
have to check that this is how YOUR computer is configured.) And then click OK to record
You can pause during your recording by pressing the pause button (if a student asks a question, the
phone rings, etc.)
When you’re done recording, press the square stop button & save.
3. Upload to YouTube
You can skip this step, but I suggest uploading the video to YouTube for better quality.
If you don’t want to blog, you can just stop after uploading your video to YouTube and have
students follow your YouTube Channel
Create a YouTube Account (perhaps make one just for your classroom)
Click on Upload & follow the steps
To post a video to your blog:
Click the pencil in the upper left hand corner
Type your title
Click the video clapboard
Select your video to upload or select My YouTube Videos
It will take a few minutes to upload
Select publish

When you set up your account, I suggest
you go to YouTube Settings and then
select Privacy and block your likes and
subscriptions .
I also suggest turning OFF comments
through the video manager / uploads
menu
4. To upload your notes
Open slideshare.net and log in
Select “Upload” (this is where is gets cranky sometimes. I’ve had to log out and log back in
sometimes or select dropbox)
Select the file to upload
When the files has uploaded, click on the link
copy & past the URL from the toolbar
Go to your blog
Start a new post or continue on previous post
Type a name for the notes in the text box.
Highlight that text and select “LINK”
Paste the URL from slideshare into the web address link
Click OK
Publish your post.
5. To post someone else’s youtube video:
Go to youtube & find your video.
Select Share
Select Embed
Copy the Embed Code
Then go to your blog & start a new post
Select the HTML button
Copy & past the embed code
You can go back to the compose mode if you wish
Then Publish
