  • MNCC supports member campuses in campus-community partnerships in many ways. MNCC staff can provide guidance and support to CHC sites looking for new ways to engage with campuses (and vice versa). CHC program is managed by Meghan- part time Administrative Manager and part time CHC Manager. Jessica Zha, VISTA Leader, supports the CHC program full time through August.
  • 365, 24/7: VISTAs are suppose to be available to work when needed. They work a typical work week and must be available for additional responsibilities that may fall on evenings or weekends. (They can not have another job for this reason and can only take one education course for this reason) Living allowance: state taxes are taken out of the biweekly stipend; but not federal taxes Education award: if a VISTA leaves due to a extenuating circumstance, they can receive a pro-rated Ed-award. A new job or school do not qualify as a extenuating circumstance.
  • Supervision is cited as the largest influence in a VISTA member’s experience and commitment to the project
  • eGrants: MNCC has posted position descriptions (taken from applications) Host sites need to create an eGrants account in order to manage applicants instructions on the Supervisor intranet under ‘recruitment’ Meghan sent out instructions on how to create an account; it’s also on the Supervisor internet under recruitment. Please email me if you have additional questions.
  • Click on the orange tabs to see each section of the application. The VISTA submits this generic application to all sites they are interested in; therefore it is not specific to your program. The posting asks applicants to submit a resume and cover letter in addition to the AmeriCorps application to provide more detail as to why they want to work for the host site.
  • Once you have determined your final candidate, you need to go to the Sponsor Recommendation/Rejection page. It requires supervisors to add VISTA document information and provide a thorough recommendation for why they want to hire the VISTA. After Supervisors recommend the VISTA, the VISTA must login to their AmeriCorps account and accept the position. This must happen before April 29. They will then be listed as “Pending State Office approval”.
  • This site has everything supervisors should need to successful host a VISTA project. Please take time to explore it and the various resources it has. Contact me if you see anything that should be changed or added.
  • Select the various sections from the drop down menu under ‘Supervisor Intranet’ on the top right. Includes all necessary recruitment paperwork AmeriCorps policies Documents on orienting and training a VISTA Project Management Host site
  • The host site agreement can be found on the Supervisor Intranet under ‘Host Site Paperwork and Information’
