  • 16. 03-1 SOLAR INVERTER . They regulate the voltage and current received from your solar panels and convert the DC from your solar panels into AC, which is the type of current that is utilized by the majority of electrical devices.
  • 17. What is a Grid-tied system? Grid-tied or On-grid systems are connected to the electrical grid, and allow residents of a building to use solar energy as well as electricity from the grid. Grid-tied systems do not need to produce 100% of the electricity demand for the user. - If excess, you can sell to the grid. - If shortfall, you can buy from grid. Off-grid obviously means that your solar system is not connected to the utility grid, because you live in a remote area and don’t have access to the grid or you want to become energy self sufficient. It requires that the solar panels are able to produce enough electricity to cover 100% of the energy needs. For advanced systems with higher capacity, the built-in solar charger in the inverter is not enough and the system requires external solar chargers.
