Creative Expressions of Nisha

Meandering Knowledge System Mudugar-Kurumbar Research Centre, Attappady is established to document the disappearing knowledge systems of indigenous tribal communities in Attappady, Palakkad District, Kerala. Members of the communities and others take the roles of researchers and documenters to videograph, photograph and audiograph the knowledge systems of the communities. This objective of the project, however, is not just to create an archive which deposits documents, but is an interactive system which imparts knowledge of digital media and documentation to the tribal communities. As part of this objective, the Centre asserts the idea of training the community members who are interested in the medium. A surprising result is the photographs taken by a 6-year old girl from Karara hamlet. Nisha Natarajan was enthralled by watching her own creative expressions in photographic frames. Her expressions left the researchers with a number of questions …
