Coastal Carolina University Coastal Carolina has 4 academic colleges to choose from. College of Business Administration College of Education College of Humanities and Fine Arts College of Natural and Applied Sciences
College of Humanities and Fine Arts Within the college of Humanities and Fine Arts there are a total of 11 different majors to choose from. Out of those 11 majors is theater which is known as one of their best.
History of Dramatic Arts Coastal Carolinas first auditorium on campus was built in 1981. The first theater for the performing arts was built on June 14th and was named Wheelwright Auditorium after Dr. Kimbel’s, who contributed $3.1 million dollars to the auditorium, grandfather John Wheelwright.

Musical Theater With the Musical Theater here at Coastal Carolina they focus on what they like to call the “Triple Threat” Singing Dancing Acting They also focus on other important aspects with knowledge pertaining to: Theory Criticism History Literature Production design
Theater Performance Performing Arts program teaches students different approaches to acting and performing. Teaching students different performing styles such as: Classical Modern Contemporary
Design and Technical Theater In the deign program within the Dramatic Arts major students get to work hands on in designing and producing plays, musicals, concerts, and various other programs that go on each year at Coastal. Students have opportunities so assist with set designs, costume designs, lights, props, and sounds in the productions put on at Coastal Carolina. This program gives you a chance to get hands on learning and practice so you will be more experienced in the work field.
Mission Statement Coastal Carolina’s Mission is to educate students who are interested in learning historic as well as contemporary work in theater. They encourage students to learn a wide variety of skills in theater and work within the community to gain experience for the future.
What else they have to offer! Each season Coastal Carolina’s Theater Department offers a varied of at least six productions, a dance concert, and a variety of other performances. The theater department offers expanding facilities, a growing and trained faculty, a commitment to being the best training program in the region.
