The Lizzie Borden Mystery

  1. 2. On August 4, 1892, a horrible crime was committed at 92 Second Street in Fall River, Massachusetts. A wealthy businessman and his wife were found brutally murdered in their Victorian home in Fall River, Massachusetts. The Accused: the youngest daughter, Lizzie.
  2. 5. <ul><li>Lizzie was 33 years old at the time of the murder and she lived at home with their father and stepmother. </li></ul><ul><li>Lizzie was a Sunday school teacher and she was well-respected in her community. </li></ul><ul><li>Lizzie did not like her stepmother. </li></ul>
  3. 6. <ul><li>Emma was Lizzie’s sister and she also lived with her father and stepmother. </li></ul><ul><li>At the time of the murder, Emma was out-of-town visiting a friend. </li></ul>
  4. 7. <ul><li>Maggie was the maid at the Borden house. </li></ul><ul><li>At the time of the murders, Maggie claimed that she was resting in her upstairs bedroom because she had to wash the outside windows earlier that morning. </li></ul>
  5. 18. <ul><li>Lizzie Borden took an axe And gave her mother forty whacks. And when she saw what she had done, She gave her father forty-one. </li></ul>
