WOMEN’S HALL OF FAME <ul><li>What is it? </li></ul><ul><ul><li>An “organization dedicated to honoring and celebrating the achievements of distinguished American Women” </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>236 Women have been inducted to date, some of which are household names, and others who most of use have never heard of </li></ul></ul>
  4. 4. WHO TO CHOSE ? <ul><li>I specifically wanted to chose a woman from the National Women’s Hall of Fame who I was unfamiliar with in an effort to gain awareness of the strong feminine characters that helped shape and continue to shape our country </li></ul>

WIDNALL (1938- ) <ul><li>Who Is She? </li></ul><ul><ul><li>She graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the 1960’s, one of only 23 women in a class of over 900! </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>She later went on to become a notable professor of aeronautics and astronautics there, with a teaching career spanning over three decades </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>She was the Secretary of The United States Air Force 1992-1997, becoming the first woman to head a U.S. military department </li></ul></ul>
  7. 7. SHELIA E. WIDNALL (1938- ) <ul><li>Who Is She? </li></ul><ul><ul><li>She is a noted astrophysicist, an author, a researcher, and a master pilot. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>She paved the way for women in the military, in science, and in academics </li></ul></ul>
