Christianity 101 Part 1 La Porte Texas TX Church introduction to christianity - Presentation Transcript

    1. Christianity 101 Congregation Benim Avraham Diocese of La Porte, Texas Christian Church, Synod of St. Timothy Part 1 The basics
    2. God
      • God created everything
      • When he created it, there was harmony between God, mankind and nature.
      • God is perfectly just.
      • God is perfectly merciful.
      • God is the absolute King of the Universe.
    3. Mankind
      • Men and women were made in the perfect image of God.
      • We are called to create with him.
      • We are called to be stewards of creation.
      • God created mankind to have a relationship with him.
      • Mankind has the ability to walk in relationship with God or apart from him.
      • God has a perfect plan for each of our lives.
    4. Sin
      • Sin is an archery term, it means to miss the mark.
      • God has a perfect will for our lives, when we fail to achieve that, we are sinning.
      • Adam and Eve sinned by disobeying God.
      • That sin tainted all nature, destroying the harmony between mankind, nature and God.
      • We forget that God is king, and we want to make the rules.
    5. Results
      • The wage of sin is death.
      • Sin separates us from God, one another and nature.
      • Sin takes over our lives.
      • The more we sin, the easier to sin.
    6. Judgement
      • Since God is the perfect judge, he must judge all sin.
      • How many times do you sin a day?
      • Multiply that by 365.
      • Multiply that by 70 years.
      • What would a judge tell you, if you brought him that many tickets.
      • What would the judge tell you, if you broke the laws that many times.
      • You would go to jail and they would throw away the key!
    7. The wage of sin is death!
    8. FOREVER
    9. Jesus the Messiah
      • Since God is merciful, as well as just, he sent the perfect God-Man, Jesus, to pay for our sins.
      • Jesus is truly God.
      • Jesus is truly man, and the only man without sin.
      • Since Jesus was without sin, he could pay for our sins.
    10. Redemption
      • Jesus, being without sin, did not have to pay for his own sins.
      • A truly innocent man, as predicted in the Old Testament, died for the sins of the whole world.
      • When Jesus gave up his life, he declared from the cross, “It is completed!”
    11. Atonement
      • Jesus paid the price, so you wouldn’t have to.
    12. Salvation
      • If I offer you a dollar, what do you have to do to get it?
      • Accept my offer!
      • Jesus offers us the free gift of eternal life, all you have to do is say YES.
      • What will you say to Jesus??????
    13. Before you say, “yes.”
      • We accept Jesus as Lord and Saviour.
      • To be your Saviour without being your Lord would be a lie.
      • Jesus wants a real relationship with you.
      • He wants to rule the throne of your heart.
      • He wants to give you eternal life, now, and abundantly.
    14. Remember
      • Jesus will be asking you to study the Bible.
      • Jesus will be asking for you to develop a prayer life.
      • Jesus will be asking you to live a holy life, and will give you the power to do it.
      • Jesus will be asking you to tell other people about Him.
      • Some people will not like the changes in your life.
    15. Study
      • Everyone who is a Christian should make an effort to read the entire Bible.
      • You should be studying the Bible on your own, and with a group, under the direction of a more mature Christian.
      • Family Bible studies are excellent as well.
      • Lives of saints and other Christian books will help out as well.
    16. Piety (or prayer life)
      • Christians should attend church weekly if possible.
      • Christians should receive communion regularly.
      • Christians should have a regular daily prayer life.
      • Christians should pray with their families.
      • Christians should have times of fasting.
      • Christians should have regular times of meditation.
      • Christians should pray for their enemies.
      • Christians should say grace before meals
      • Christians should invoke God’s aid in any project.
    17. Holiness
      • Remember, Jesus gives you the power to do this, you are not doing it on your own.
      • No drunkenness
      • No sex outside of marriage
      • No drugs
      • Treat others as you would be treated
      • No cheating
      • Etc.
    18. Holiness Continued.
      • Jesus
      • Will give you the power to apply the Bible to your life and live by its standards.
      • Will give you the power to love your enemies.
      • Will give you the power to submit.
      • Remember, it is a kingdom, not a democracy.
    19. Witnessing
      • People who really love Jesus, will want to tell others what he has done for us.
      • Jesus does things for us all the time, we need to tell others what he did for us.
      • Jesus commands us to bear much fruit, going to all the world with the message of salvation.
      • The world and the devil do not like it.
    20. Are you ready?
      • Confess your sins and ask God’s forgiveness.
      • Ask Jesus to come rule in your heart.
      • Before a group of people (the congregation) confess Jesus as Lord and Saviour.
      • Be baptised.
    21. Already baptised?
      • If you were baptised in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, just take the first three steps, and join a Bible believing church.
    22. Congratulations
      • We will help you to learn to study, pray, live a life of holiness and witness.
      • There are five more slide shows to go.
      • Rejoice and be glad, for you now have eternal abundant life, to the full.
