Joseph was a normal boy from a wealthy but careless family, that didn’t pay any attention to the emotional needs of their children, who spent most of the time alone on the internet or on the street. A life of virtual relationships. Joseph lived in Naples, at eighteen he decided not to continue studying and started working at a factory to earn a living.

It was in this factory that he had his first experience with drugs when his work partner during a break offered him a joint. That was the beginning of a long fall that brought him to try first light drugs and then heavier ones. From that day he began to change friends, going out with boys that were already affected by drugs. It was with them that he began to sniff.

A few months later he lost his job, this was his downfall. The desire of drugs led him to do things that he would never have done. Stealing money and threatening people on the street arguing with his parents became part of his normal everyday life. His father one night after a big fight was forced to drive him out of the house. Since that day Joseph began to roam the streets.

He slept on park benches and stole the poor. He was alone, no family, no friends and no job. One evening he didn’t feel good and he was taken to hospital. there he met his salvation. A doctor took care of him, sending him first to a treatment center, 30 km from Naples and Milan.

After fifteen years of living in a community, Joseph is now able to form a family. Now he works in the community. Manages the accounting center and created an electronic diary on the Internet where thousands of young people tell their story. Joseph can give them advice because of his experience and now he can tell his stories .

Simone Martiniello

Francesca Gubitoso

Angelica Maffeo

Martina D’Ambrosio
