  • 2. THE BAND
    • It’s a North American band of funk rock. They also play other genres like punk funk, rap funk, funk metal and alternative rock. It was created in 1983, in Los Angeles, California. The current members of the band are Anthony Kiedis, lead vocals, Josh Klinghoffer, guitar, who is a substitute of John Frusciante, Michael “Flea” Balzary playing the bass and Chad Smith as the drummer.
    • The original formation of Red Hot Chilli Peppers included Anthony Kiedis lead vocals, Hillel Slovak, guitar, Michael “Flea” Balzary playing the bass and Jack Irons as the drummer.
    • The band has sold over 70 millions albums worldwide.
    • They won 7 Grammy awards.
    • Their first album is Red Hot Chilli Peppers and the last one
    • in 2011, it’s I’m with you.
    • The most successful album is Californication (1999 )

    • Chad Smith
    • From Richfield, Minnesota. He was the youngest of three siblings. He’s the drummer. Before joining the group, he was the drummer of Toby Red, a band from Detroit. He’s the drummer of a hard rock group called Chickenfoot.
    • Joshua Adam “Josh” Klinghoffer
    • He was born in Los Angeles, California. He began playing the guitar at an early age. He left his studies when he was 15 years old. He played in the solo albums of John Frusciante. In 2009 he replaced John Frusciante.

    • Michael “Flea” Balzary
    • Melbourne, Australia in 1962. When he was a child he become a prodigy playing the trumpet. The childhood of Flea was very difficult. He went to Fairfax High School with Kiedis, Irons and Slovak. When Hillel Slovak created the predecessor group of RHCP, Anthym, choose Flea to play the bass. The members of Anthym teach Flea to play the bass.
    • Antony Kiedis
    • Michigan, USA in 1962. He studied in Fairfax High School with Flea and Slovak. His father was involved in some cases of drug dealing, this involved Kiedis in drugs, he consummated a lot of drugs. His sing stile has changed along the time, his rap stile has become to a more melody stile.

    • Dave Navarro
    • He was born in Santa Monica, California. His grandfather immigrated from Mexico to USA. He learned to play the guitar with Jimmy Hendrix’s music. He likes to mix heavy with rock. He recorded only one CD with Red Hot Chilli Pepper, «One Hot Minute». His mother and his aunt were killed when he was young.
    • Cliff Martinez
    • He was born in the Bronx, New York, then he moved to Ohio. He started his career like a composer doing the music of Pee Wee’s Playhouse, an American show. He also played like a drummer in some rock bands. Now he’s completely devoted to composing soundtracks. He was fired because Jack Irons returned.

    • Hillel Slovak
    • Israel in 1962. He studied in Fairfax High School with Flea and Kiedis. The founder of the previous groups that finally become RHCP. Drug addicted. He died of overdose of heroin in 1988.
    • Jack Irons
    • California, USA in 1962. Integrant of the previous bands of RHCP, and he had stayed into RHCP since Slovak died. He went Fairfax High School with Kiedis, Flea and Slovak. He participated in other groups like Eleven and Pearl Jam.

    • John Frusciante
    • New York, USA in 1970. Solo career with nine albums. Groups like Ataxia (Josh Klinghoffer). Used to play the guitar 15 hours at day. Friend of Slovak. When Slovak died in 1988 he became the new guitarist of RHCP. In 1992 he broke up with the group, and became addicted to the heroin, and returned to the band in 1998. He has stayed in the band since 2009 and made the best albums of the RHCP.
