Ana Rita, Joana and Sara (11B) researched about this outstanding First Lady.
Result of a classroom challenge: make a state advertising campaign about some of the class’s freedom heroes. One of the aims was to bring our spirit up in a time of difficulties. As our heroes, we should never give up.

Eleanor Roosevelt

  1. 1. Eleanor Roosevelt (1884-1962)  She was the First Lady of the United States from 1933 to 1945.  She supported the New Deal policies of her husband, became an advocate for civil rights, was part of a feminine trade union and she also worked to enhance the status of working women.  During the Great Depression, she made programmes of job creation, tried to put an end to racial inequalities, she also visited the soldiers throughout the world.  She was the ambassador of the United States of America in the United Nations (1945 at 1953), where she chaired the committee that drafted and approved the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.  In our opinion, she was more than a simple woman, due to her innumerable efforts, Ana Rita teachings, inspiring messages and especially to Joana Guido 11ºB her courage, she has become an example for Sara Oliveira everyone in the world, namely for the women.
