Diamonte Poem <ul><li>What is it? </li></ul><ul><ul><li>A Diamonte poem is a poems about opposites. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>It is in the shape of a diamond. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>The first and last lines are opposite! </li></ul></ul><ul><li>What does it look like? </li></ul><ul><li>Cat </li></ul><ul><li>clever, cuddly </li></ul><ul><li>crouching, pouncing, purring </li></ul><ul><li>meow, feline, canine, bark </li></ul><ul><li>running, sniffing, yelping </li></ul><ul><li>loveable, smart </li></ul><ul><li>Dog </li></ul>See how the poem resembles a diamond

Make a list of at least 10 opposite pairs . </li></ul><ul><li>For example: </li></ul><ul><li>Cat & Dog Teacher & Student </li></ul><ul><li>Boy & Girl Up & Down </li></ul><ul><li>Pick your favorite opposite pair. This will be the subject of your poem. </li></ul><ul><li>Start making a list of words you associate with these two opposite things! </li></ul>

Write one on the first line and one on the last line </li></ul><ul><li>Line 2: Think of words that describe the noun in line 1. </li></ul><ul><li>Pick two and write them down. </li></ul><ul><li>Line 3: Write down three ing verbs that describe line 1. </li></ul><ul><li>Line 4: Write down two adjectives that describe line 1. </li></ul><ul><li>Next, write down two adjectives that describe line 7. (This is where the opposite part begins!) </li></ul><ul><li>Line 5: Write down three ing verbs that describe line 7. </li></ul><ul><li>Line 6: Think of words that describe the noun in line 7. Pick two and write them down. </li></ul>
