Computer System Hardware - Presentation Transcript

    1. TYPES OF HARDWARE INTERFACES
      INPUT
      AND
      OUTPUT
    2. INPUT DEVICES
any peripheral (piece of computer hardware equipment) used to provide data and control signals to an information processing system (such as a computer)
    3. KEYBOARD
partially modeled after the typewriter keyboard, which uses an arrangement of buttons or keys, to act as mechanical levers or electronic switches
In normal usage, the keyboard is used to type text and numbers into a word processor, text editor or other program.
    4. MOUSE
is a pointing device that functions by detecting two-dimensional motion relative to its supporting surface
consists of an object held under one of the user's hands, with one or more buttons
    5. WEBCAM
video capture device connected to a computer or computer network, often using a USB port or, if connected to a network, ethernet or Wi-Fi
most popular use is for video telephony, permitting a computer to act as a videophone or video conferencing station
Other popular uses, which include the recording of video files or even still-images, are accessible via numerous software programs, applications and devices.
    6. SCANNER
device that optically scans images, printed text, handwriting, or an object, and converts it to a digital image
Common examples found in offices are variations of the desktop (or flatbed) scanner where the document is placed on a glass window for scanning.
    7. OUTPUT DEVICES
any piece of computer hardware equipment used to communicate the results of data processing carried out by an information processing system (such as a computer) to the outside world
    8. SPEAKER
Computer speakers, or multimedia speakers, are external speakers, commonly equipped with a low-power internal amplifier.
Enables the user to hear sound output from the computer
    9. PRINTER
peripheral which produces a hard copy (permanent readable text and/or graphics) of documents stored in electronic form, usually on physical print media such as paper or transparencies
    10. MONITOR
piece of electrical equipment which displays images generated by devices such as computers, without producing a permanent record
comprises the display device, circuitry, and an enclosure
    11. LCD PROJECTOR
type of video projector for displaying video, images or computer data on a screen or other flat surface
To display images, LCD (liquid crystal display) projectors typically send light from a Metal halide lamp through a prism that separates light to three poly silicone panels – one each for the red, green, and blue components of the video signal.
