In Grace We Stand - Presentation Transcript

    1.
    2. Luke 7:36—50
      • 41“Two men owed money to a certain moneylender. One owed him five hundred denarii, and the other fifty. 42Neither of them had the money to pay him back, so he canceled the debts of both. Now which of them will love him more?” 43Simon replied, “I suppose the one who had the bigger debt canceled.” “You have judged correctly,” Jesus said.
    3. Ephesians 2:8—10
      • 8For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—9not by works, so that no one can boast. 10For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
    4. SALVATION IS FREE
      • “ By Grace you have been saved:”
        • Love that goes upward is worship .
        • Love that goes outward is affection .
        • Love that stoops is grace .
    5. SALVATION IS FREE
      • “ Not from yourselves”
        • Forgiveness is not for man to purchase or earn.
      • “ It is the gift of God”
        • We cannot make salvation works centered and man centered.
        • Salvation is Grace centered and God centered.
        • The emphasis is on what God does for us not what we do for God.
    6. SALVATION IS COSTLY
      • The creditor in our parable took a loss.
      • Remember, “salvation is a gift of God,” a gift that cost him dearly.
      • Salvation is free to us, but it was not cheap to him.
    7. SALVATION IS CONDITIONAL
      • What, if anything, can we do?
      • Acts 2:37—40 “When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?” 38Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call.” 40With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, “Save yourselves from this corrupt generation.”
