      • Islip Middle School, in partnership with the community, will facilitate the academic, emotional, and social growth of our students, as they move to become well-rounded, life-long learners. We shall create, through the unique elements of the middle school structure, an environment that will develop compassionate and creative problem solvers, equipped to face the challenges of the 21 st century.

    • 4. Classroom instruction appropriate to the needs and characteristics of young adolescents provided by skilled and knowledgeable teachers. 5. Strong educational leadership and a building administration that encourage, facilitate, & sustain involvement, participation, & students. 6. A network of academic & personal support available for all students. 7. Professional learning & staff development for all staff that are ongoing, planned, purposeful, & collaboratively developed.       • IMS learning community will attempt to fill a water jug located in the main lobby with donations of spare change.
      • These funds will be sent to relief organizations helping victims of the recent earthquake in Haiti.
      Please ask your parents/guardians permission before donating!

      • People who are regularly physically active have the lowest risk of cardiac arrest both while being active and overall.

      • Kic Club is collecting used Athletic Shoes (No Metal) that will be Recycled into Playground & Sports Equipment for disadvantaged schoolyards.
      • Old sneakers can be dropped off at the Gym or Main Lobby.

    • Valentine Social Student Gov’t is having a Valentine Social on Friday, Feb. 5 th from 3-5 pm. Tickets & Permission Slips are in the School Store. Tickets are $5. You receive a free Raffle for our beautiful Valentine Baskets. Come and join us for a Great Time!
    • There will be a Student Government Meeting on Wednesday 1/13/10 and Thursday 1/28/10 in Rm. 101 .
      • Cell phone use is prohibited in school.
      • Students caught using a cell phone should expect the phone to be taken away.
      • If you need to call home, phones are available in the main office.
