  • missrogue Tara Hunt, Director, Digital & Content at Rogue Strategies and raising VC can be total stress. So, have fun while you can now, make friends, make people happy, embrace the chaos, build cool stuff, sing kumbaya, reap the benefits of raising social capital for as long as you possibly can and then and ONLY THEN

  • missrogue Tara Hunt, Director, Digital & Content at Rogue Strategies This is most important. If you aren’t having fun, I have no idea why you are doing this. The more fun you have, the more people you will attract to what you are doing. Your goal should be to maximize the fun and minimize the stress.

  • missrogue Tara Hunt, Director, Digital & Content at Rogue Strategies There are probably a whole bunch of things you feel incredibly passionate about. Why not work on those causes while you work on your startup. Why not integrate them INTO your startup? Do well by doing good isn’t just something for Craigslist an Kiva...

  • missrogue Tara Hunt, Director, Digital & Content at Rogue Strategies Making friends with your former ‘enemies’ shows that you are a big person. It also makes you even cooler because you get to offer more freedom to your friends who will totally reward you. Friends don’t lock friends in.

They talk openly about where they are going and what they need to get there. I would say that Matt Mullenweg’s open development of Wordpress gave him an advantage even in a competitive market.

  • missrogue Tara Hunt, Director, Digital & Content at Rogue Strategies People who make remarkable products and services gain huge whuffie points. All that stuff before about listening and being part of the community and embracing the chaos? Apple? Um, no. But dammit, they win all of the whuffie back in the stuff they build.

  • missrogue Tara Hunt, Director, Digital & Content at Rogue Strategies Embrace the chaos. Small, simple, agile steps are much better. The startup world is incredibly uncertain and communities are even MORE uncertain. As you will already be part of the community, you’ll also need to bend with it.
