  • Delicious Drinks
    • Delicious Drinks have been in the
    • Soft drinks manufacturing industry for
    • 10 years. The managing director has
    • decided the company need to move
    • with the times and would like to create
    • a new drinks range to attract more
    • customers.
    • How will the four
    • functional areas in
    • the company play a
    • vital role in
    • contributing to
    • the new product?
    Any ideas?
  • Sales Department
    • Miss Berry, the Sales Manager has decided the new product range will be healthy smoothie drinks.
    • The sales team have decided to advertise the new product range in the Rutherglen Reformer using a poster they have designed.
  • Purchases Department
    • Miss Berry has negotiated with a local supermarket who have agreed to sell the new smoothie range.
    • Miss Berry has been working with Mr Currency to decide on the selling price for the new range.
    • The purchases manager Mr Buyer will have to order in the correct amount of raw materials to make the estimated sales figures.
  • Finance Department
    • Mr Currency and the staff in the finance department will have to invoice the order to the supermarket.
    • They will also be responsible to check the supermarket pay for their order in the agreed terms.
  • Human Resources (HR)
    • Due to the increase in demand for the new product range Miss Trainer the HR manager has spoken to the company director about staff recruitment.
    • Miss Trainer will also be responsible for staff welfare and training. The new staff will need to be fully trained in the company.
  • Task 2
    • Miss Berry has worked with Mr Currency to calculate the prices for the new smoothie range. She would like you to prepare a spreadsheet and has given you the following instructions:
    • The spreadsheet heading will be:
    • Smoothie Drinks Range Summer 2009
    • The column headings are:
    • Product Description
    • Product Number
    • Cost
    • Mark Up
    • Selling Price
    • The following information should be entered into the first 3 columns:
    Product Description Product Code Cost Very Berry VB120 £1.20 Smooth Strawberry SS130 £1.30 Cloudy Cranberry CC125 £1.25 Ripe Raspberry RR110 £1.10 Blueberry Twist BT150 £1.50 Cheery Berry CB135 £1.35 Blackberry Shock BS165 £1.65 Mixed Smoothie Cherry and Raspberry CR190 £1.90 Blueberry and Apple BA210 £2.10
    • Increase the size of the spreadsheet heading and column headings to 14.
    • Format the COST, MARK UP and SELLING PRICE as currency.
    • The mark up for an ordinary smoothie is 30%.
    • The mark up for any mixed fruit smoothie is 40%
    • The mark up may change, depending on the sales.
    • Use formulae to calculate the Mark Up and Selling Price.
    • Print your spreadsheet with gridlines and formula showing.
