    1. Cross Training Management Program EIAT International Tourism Conference Congress Centre MASTER, Novi Sad 26. – 27. September 2008. Ana Trbovich, PhD USAID Competitiveness project Milan Culic, MA Centre for Tourism Research and Studies
    2. Why CTMP?
      • HR is considered as one of priorities for Serbian tourism development
      • Problem of retaining students after graduation
      • Weak link between business sector and academia
      • Where exist it is not standardized
      • Problem of having well educated students with necessary skills for the industry needs
    3. What is CTMP?
      • EIAT and Centre for Tourism Research and Studies have developed a model of partnership between various stakeholders in Serbia:
      • Public sector
      • Private sector
      • International development agencies i.e. USAID
      • Objective:
      • Students preparation in various departments in the above mentioned sector
      • Preparation of students for the executive roles
      • Development of positive attitude towards continual learning
      • Improvement of practical work through studding
      • Improvement of communication level, team work and relationship between students and professors
    4. CTMP: How it works
      • Program is meant to be at least four weeks focusing on cross exposure in various departments in public and private sector i.e. hotels, tour operators, tourism organization
      • Aim of cross exposure is to provide big picture for students so they can understand the processes within the industry and the way it operates. How it is managed and what will be responsibilities and needs of particular departments within institution.
      • Students of third and fourth year are welcome to the program. Centre for Tourism Research and Studies in partnership with the Faculties select students according their results in the academic field such as: grades, level of foreign language, students practice work exposure, form of their motivational letter.
    5. What we will accomplish? Students: The opportunity to have a voice and participate in a program that will support knowledge growth and development of necessary skills. The opportunity to have access to career counseling and connect and develop relationships with industry leaders and global association networks that will lead to job placements. Industry : The opportunity to engage and help students develop the necessary knowledge and skill set. The opportunity to have access to industry research and global association networks. The opportunity to exchange ideas with industry leadership to develop relevant curricula.
    6. What we will accomplish?
      • Market place :
      • Resource and access to engage and recruit knowledgeable and skilled young professionals
      • A channel to exchange ideas with academia and contribute to the development of curricula
      • Government:
      • The opportunity to engage with academia and marketplace leadership and to understand the importance talent capital plays in developing a meeting infrastructure
      • The opportunity to understand the economic benefits gained from meetings held in the region (cities and country)
