      • Early beginnings: Natural predisposition

      • 1930 first regulation plan to prevent “unplanned development”
      • Intensive development after World War II

      • 2005

      • Tourism is main industry , it employs most of citizens
      • From 1960 number of citizens in Budva has five-fold. Number of registered residents and de facto residents differs due to influx of season work labor and the presence of apartment owners .
      • The average income level in Budva is higher than the national level
      • 2003 : In the July – August period there were 6 time more tourist than the permanent residents. In 2007 there were 15 times more tourist than the permanent residents

      • Tourism is Budva’s main industry
      • Sustainable development principles ;
      • Insisted on enhancing quality of destination ;
      • Prolongation of tourist season ;
      • More hotel accommodation instead of private one;
      • Enrich destination with new contents .

      • The carrying capacity have been exceeded , negative impact on ecosystems
      • High seasonality with all the negative impact on economy, labor conditions, social and culture life
      • Underestimated historical and cultural heritage
      • Urban overdevelopment despite building restrictions in planning regulation
      • Lack of all infrastructural facilities: water and electricity supply, parking space, urban waste rubbish dumps….
