    2. 2. What is this collaboration project? <ul><li>You choose a book from the three to read. </li></ul><ul><li>Organize in-class group discussions about the book. </li></ul><ul><li>Maintain a group wiki to compile your group’s ideas and thinking. </li></ul>
    3. 3. What should you come to understand at the end of this unit? <ul><li>People discover their own identity through experiences, both positive and negative, and by figuring out where they fit in the world around them. </li></ul><ul><li>Characters in literature face many of the same conflicts and experiences that we do. </li></ul><ul><li>Sharing our thoughts and purposefully collaborating can help us develop a greater understanding of our own ideas. </li></ul>
    4. 4. Essential questions… <ul><li>How do we know who we really are and what we believe in? </li></ul><ul><li>What are some common human conflicts faced by the main character? What makes this like things I've experienced? </li></ul><ul><li>What can I learn from my classmates? How do I learn it? </li></ul>
    5. 5. Why use a wiki with this unit? <ul><li>It’s an easily accessible document that can be edited by multiple people </li></ul><ul><li>Promotes sharing of ideas between people </li></ul><ul><li>Uses technology to encourages collaboration of ideas </li></ul>
    6. 6. Materials needed <ul><li>One of three novels – Black Boy or The Color of Water or Frankenstein </li></ul><ul><li>Class wiki at: </li></ul><ul><li>An open mind and willingness to collaborate with one another </li></ul>
