At EYH conferences you will participate in fun and challenging hands-on math, science and engineering activities led by women mathematicians, scientists and engineers. Through these important hands-on workshops, you will learn that studying math and science can be fun! You will participate in real experiments and learn about the importance of studying as much math as possible in high school. By using local volunteers to lead workshops, you'll meet with mathematicians, engineers and scientists who live and work in your community, and who may serve as your future mentor!

    • EYH Monterey Year 1 Theme: Marine Science
      • Each girl pre-registered for her choice of two workshops
      • Each workshop session was 75 minutes
      • Workshops were presented twice (am & pm)
      • All workshops featured hands-on activity
      • Workshops led by experienced female presenters from organizations like the Monterey Bay Aquarium and China Lake Naval Base

      • When you arrive you’ll get your schedule and T-shirt, have time for some breakfast and, so you don’t get bored, you’ll have a couple cool word searches to work on that earn you tickets for the raffle!

      • Using everyday materials, teams in one of the workshops designed several parachutes they could test on Winnie the Pooh and Tigger too!

      • After having a nutritious lunch in the historic Old Del Monte Hotel now Herrmann Hall, Each of the girls presented a Career Passport to enter into the lunchtime Career Fair where they got a lot of great ideas about interesting STEM careers.

    • Local Businesses Supporting STEM Education
      • More than 15 local business and non-profits set up booths in Herrmann Hall for the noontime EYH STEM Career Fair
      • Most of the booths featured some type of hands-on activity and all provided information to the girls on careers in their fields of specialization
