    2. Introduction
      • Born in Bermershiem, Germany in 1098AD
      • Born into a noble family
      • Sent to a convent at age eight
      • She lived from 1098-1179
      • She learned in Monasteries when she was older
      • As a child she had little education

    4. Visions
      • Revealed her visions as an abbess in her forties
      • Great work, Scivias (Know the ways), contains visions, theology, and poetry
      • Visions about god and humanity, creation, redemption, and the church
      • Scivias was the first of three works describing her visions: Book of Life's Merits and her unfinished Book of Divine Works
    5. Accomplishments
      • Wrote scientific and medical books: Book of Simple Medicine and Causes and Cures.
      • Wrote music called Symphonia, and the musical Play of Virtues
      • Preached about her ideas on medicine, science and some of her music.
      • Corresponded with priests, bishops, archbishops, and popes. To influence them about information
      • Founded two convents in Bingen, Germany.
    6. Challenges
      • Never finished the last step of becoming a saint
      • Accused of being elitist
      • Accused of letting nuns adorn themselves
      • Convent became under an interdict
      • Suffered from migraines
      • She had little education because she could not focus
