Lifes brief candle

Lifes brief candle

  1. 1. Lifes Brief CandleMichael Lee
  2. 2. “Life is no brief candle to me. It is a sortof splendid torch which I have got ahold of for the moment, and I want tomake it burn as brightly as possiblebefore handing it on to futuregenerations.” - George Bernard Shaw
  3. 3. Do you feel motivated in life? Do youlook forward to going to work on aMonday; or do you thank your luckystars and look forward to the weekendwhen Friday arrives?
  4. 4. It may seem no surprise to you that mostpeople fall in the latter category. Theyhate their life. They feel unsatisfied andunfulfilled, but still stick to their deadend jobs, just because it gives them afalse sense of security.
  5. 5. But what they do not realise is that it is atotal waste of time and life!
  6. 6. When Life Beckons.
  7. 7. Life, as George Bernard Shaw puts it,should not be lived as if its a “briefcandle” but a splendid torch that youhave gotten a hold of.
  8. 8. Shaw’s view is inspiring indeed, as youfeel the very purpose of being alivewhen you really understand themeaning behind his words.
  9. 9. When you consider life to be a splendidtorch that you have been entrustedupon with the responsibility ofbearing, to pass on to the nextgeneration, you will know that you arehere to fulfil a specific purpose.
  10. 10. It is a must for every human being torealise his or her purpose in life. Youwerent sent here on earth aimlessly. You have been sent here with a specificreason and you should aim to fulfill it.
  11. 11. Don’t waste time and energy wallowingin self pity, complaining about thevarious problems you face in youreveryday life. That is but a part of lifeitself; obstacles come and go, but nohurdle should be big enough for you ifyou are a truly passionate humanbeing, who has an undying “can do”attitude.
  12. 12. Fulfill Your True Purpose.
  13. 13. It is not necessary to be a great leader orthe head honcho of a company toconsider yourself as mighty andpowerful. As Martin Luther King Jr.once said, “If a man is called to be astreet sweeper, he should sweep streetseven as Michelangelo painted, orBeethoven composed music...”
  14. 14. The key is to be true to your trade.Whatever job you find yourself in, do itto the best of your ability, to the pointthat you aim for no one to be betterthan you. However small or big the taskis, you must put in your best footforward and complete the task withenthusiasm and passion.
  15. 15. If you feel that you are stuck in a job, andare not able to perform because it isjust not your cup of tea, it is time toquit. And the time is now!
  16. 16. People may call you foolish for quittingwithout a “back up plan,” but you haveto trust yourself. If you really feel thatyour passion lies elsewhere and that iswhat you have been cut out for, do notwaste your time elsewhere.
  17. 17. Take the first step and make the move.Once you do what you love, it will notseem like a task anymore!
  18. 18. In order to live life to the fullest, youmust dig deep within and ask yourselfwhat is your one true passion. Muster upall the courage that you have and step outof the safety net. Theres a saying thatthe moment you step out of your“comfort zone,” life in its true sense hasbegun.
  19. 19. What’s more is that you will be aninspiration to many. When you takerisks, with the intention of doing good toyourself and to the people aroundyou, the rewards are bountiful. You mayface challenges along the way, but it willbe all worth it.
  20. 20. The going will get tough at times, but itwill make you a stronger and a betterperson. You will then realise that you arefulfilling your true purpose and will bethoroughly worn out, before beingthrown out as scrap!
