  • 2. • Christmas - in the tradition of the Christian feast commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ. It is a liturgical celebration was attributable to 25 December. Christmas is preceded by a three- week waiting period (exactly four Sundays), called Advent.
  • 3. • Christmas Eve - the day before the Christian tradition, the feast of Christmas, ending a period of Advent. • The roots of this festival dates back to the celebration of Saturnalia probably in ancient Rome, where Christianity is developed
  • 4. • Midnight Mass, Mass pastoral - a solemn mass celebrated at night (usually at midnight) from 24 to 25 December, the first Christmas. Midnight marks the expectation and prayer aimed shepherds to Bethlehem. In Poland, is one of the most important Christmas tradition.
  • 5. Attributes of Christmas • Wafer - a thin flake white bread, unleavened (ie, unleavened and unsalted), baked with white flour and water without the addition of yeast, which divide Christians, gathered at the table Christmas Eve, making a wish.
  • 6. • Christmas tree - adorned with spruce or fir tree (pine less), natural or artificial, originally associated with pre- Christian folk tradition and the cult of evergreen trees, and now being an integral decoration at Christmas.
  • 7. • Nativity scene - usually a model showing the interior of the stable of Bethlehem on the night, in which Jesus Christ was born. The crib is sometimes done as a thumbnail, as well as construction of the actual size.
