    Slide TwoBefore we look at Buzz Marketing, lets look at the old way of generating business for bars, clubs and pubs.First, you need to generate knowledge of and interest in your business. Most hospitality businesses do this through mass advertising in one way or another. Lets say that your message gets in front of 100 people. Of those 100, 5 are interested and respond favourably to your offer, maybe making a mental note to visit your business in the future. One of the 5 is immediately interested and visits your business that week for a night out. What happens to the 4 who are interested but who aren’t in the market right now? The answer is that as time goes by, their interest declines until eventually they are lost as a legitimate lead. We’ve all done it. We’ve all driven past a bar or a restaurant and said to ourselves “I’ve been meaning to go there for ages”. Guess what...every bar, club and restaurant is exactly the same...they have tons of potential customers out there who just haven’t got round to visiting them yet...they’re just waiting for an excuse and some free time. Most businesses have far more people who are thinking of going than those who actually go! If you can tap into that group somehow, your business would surge overnight!Now...what about the one customer who came to your business through your advertising?They may have a nice time and liked your business, but in many cases, if you lack a method for following up and generating repeat visits, many times these people are also lost forever or come back much less frequently that they might do other wise. This isn’t ideal for you...and it isn’t ideal for them either. They like your business and want to use it...they often just need a gentle reminder or an excuse to visit!The effect of this old way of marketing and failure to follow up...is that in order to double sales, you have to get your message in front of twice as many people, which costs more money. During a recession when people are spending less, the response rates to mass advertising drops and you might have to get your message in front of 4 times more people to double your business. Eventually, you hit a level where you cannot recoup the costs of advertising given what you guess the response rates are (because it’s very difficult to KNOW what the results are from traditional advertising) and so you logically cut your advertising spend. In some cases, especially in businesses where debt gearing and the dependency on advertising for customers is high, the business goes into a death spiral when advertising spends are cut. Many businesses then close their doors...we’re seeing this all around us...and it’s growing....fast.This blanket advertising is a very inefficient way to grow a business since the initial interest shown by your hottest potential customers is lost forever if you have no way to follow up with them. This follow up failure costs businesses millions of pounds a year...and the results are all to predictable....(next slide)

    Slide ThreeResults...Dying Media Are Becoming Less Effective and are directly killing bars, restaurants and clubs through poor advertising returns.The old way is getting less and less efficient as consumers tighten their belts. What worked during the boom is working less and less. We are seeing all around us the failing of businesses that aren’t able to adapt to both the new economic reality and the new marketing reality. Many businesses are falling further and further into the red as they struggle to attract enough customers to keep the business alive, never mind growing....and that just stinks...because there is a much better way...(next Slide)

    Slide FourWhat if you could capture your customers details when they were “hot”..the exact moment they showed interest...while sitting in their homes or offices..... and then send them automatic follow up messages to encourage them to come to your business...to regularly remind them of your changing offer? By capturing their contact details, you can send your messages to your ever expanding customer base over and over again which brings in business from your advertising efforts immediately and then again weeks and even months later....when your customers are ready to act...rather than when do your initial advertising. By capturing your customers interest right at the point where they are hottest, and enabling them to share the message with their friends with the click of a mouse, it’s looks almost magical how you get your message into the hands of a lot of people who otherwise wouldn’t have seen it or responded to it but who may be interested in it. When your message is sent to them by their friends, they are many times more likely to respond favourably to it than they are to respond to “old advertising” like a newspaper advert. This is the new marketing reality....and businesses all over the UK are waking up to just how powerful this method for communicating with customers is.
