    • Safe Sleep
    • More than 2800 American babies die each year before age 1
    • For babies 1 month-1 year old
      • SIDS is the leading cause of death
    • 90%
      • of SIDS deaths happen in babies under 6 months of age, with the highest number occurring between 2 and 4 months
    • Save your baby by practicing safe sleep
    • Your baby should sleep on his back
      • Babies placed to sleep on their stomachs are much more likely to die of SIDS than babies placed on their backs to sleep
    • Your baby should sleep in an empty crib
    • Not with you…
      • Unintentional suffocation has been the leading cause of fatal injury to infants nationwide in the last 20 years
    • … or on a sofa
    • … or near soft fluffy pillows and animals
      • Babies are more likely to die of SIDS if they are placed to sleep on top of soft bedding or if they are covered with soft bedding
    • Save your baby by practicing safe sleep
