Tabriz Constitution House

  1. 1. Tabriz CONSTITUTION HOUSE
  2. 2. Tabriz
  3. 3. Tabriz Tabriz is the capital of one of the most famous provinces of Iran, the Azarbaijan or Aturpatgan. It is perhaps the birth place of Zaratushtra. The city has a long and turbulent history. Oraşul are o istorie foarte lungă şi foarte zbuciumată
  4. 4. In 1908 it was the center of a revolt against Mohammad Ali Shah, which was only put down with the brutal intervention of the Russians.
  5. 9. Constitution House of Tabriz, also known as Khaneh Mashrouteh or khaneh Abolmeleh , is a historical edifice located next to the Great Bazaar of Tabriz . During the years which led to Constitutional Revolution and afterwards the house was used as a gathering place of the leaders, activists and sympathizers of the movement.
  6. 11. The doors in Iran have two knockers, one for women and the other for men. The knockers have different designs and make different sounds when knocked, alerting whoever is inside the gender of the person at the door. That way, if a woman is home alone she knows not to open the door for men.
  7. 12. Such door knockers are found all over the country and most especially in the very conservative heartland city of Yazd. If is a man at the door the women knew they had to veil before opening the door and if the man of the house was not home , not open it at all .
  8. 14. The house is constructed by order of Haj Mehdi Koozekonani (which was named Abolmele, the father of the nation at the time) , on 1868 . He was a merchant in the Bazaar of Tabriz. Haj Mehdi joined the revolution and became one of the major financiers of the revolution.
