Gracias, Pilar

  2. 2. Gràcia is a district of the city of Barcelona, The most well-known attraction in Gràcia is the Gaudí-designed Parc Güell which is located on El Carmel mountain.
  3. 3. Placa del Sol is one of the loveliest plazas in Barcelona. It is the favourite hangout for the locals of Barcelona’s district of Gracia. Square-shaped Placa del Sol was constructed around 1840 when Gracia was still an independent town in the vicinity of Barcelona. It is lined by leafy trees and small bars and cafes. Among the plazas of Gracia, Placa del Sol probably is the busiest, but it is far from being hectic in any sense.
  4. 4. Placa del Sol The marble floor of the plaza heats up in the sun during the day. Thus even late at night it works like a heating and you will find the young locals sitting all over Placa del Sol, with a cold beer listening to guitar music. There is a magical atmosphere which will soak you in at this lively but relaxed square.

  6. 6. Gràcia was established in 1626, by a novitiate of Carmelites who established a convent there called "Nostra Senyora de Gràcia (Our Lady of Grace)." Gràcia was an independent municipality until it was annexed to Barcelona in 1897 along with other villages in the plain of Barcelona. The expansion of the Eixample district in the 19th century eventually led to the northward expansion of Barcelona, connecting Gràcia to the growing metropolis.
