  4. 4. Columbus The Villain <ul><li>Columbus was a cruel man. </li></ul><ul><li>He raped and killed many innocent natives for their land and resources. </li></ul><ul><li>He was also a self centered man who thought he could communicate with god </li></ul>

Time line of events Columbus dies at Valladolid. 1506 Fourth and final voyage - Columbus leaves from Cadiz, Spain, with four ships. 1502 Columbus is arrested and sent home in chains 1500 Third voyage from Sanlucar, Spain, with six ships. 1498 Returns to Spain. 1496 Second voyage with 17 ships. 1493 Columbus returns to Spain. 1493 In December, the Santa Maria sinks off the cost of Hispaniola.   Columbus starts a settlement. 1492 In October, the New World was sighted 1492 In August, Columbus leaqves Palos, Spain. 1492 King Ferdinand and Queen Isabela of Spain finally give Columbus the money and ships. 1492 Moves to Spain. 1485 Fails to get the King of Portugal to back his plan.  He does not get any money. 1484 Joins his brother Bartholomew, a cartographer , in Lisbon. 1476 Swims ashore when his ship is sunk in a battle off Portugal. 1476 Born in Genoa, the son of a wool merchant and weaver. 1451
