Safari, in Kiswahili, simply means "journey", but it has now become a synonym for an African wildlife adventure.

Our partner organization in Tanzania arranges a 5-day camping safari to Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro and Serengeti National Park for volunteers. For more information, pictures and a video about the national parks in Tanzania see: http://www.tanzaniaparks.com/manyara.html

Transportation is in a land cruiser with maximum 4 other volunteers, so everyone has a window seat.
You will camp in a spacious tent with beds and access to toilet and shower, clean drinking water and 3 meals a day.

The safari staff includes a professional guide, cook and crew in charge of practical tasks and safety at the campsites. All vehicles have VHF radios.
The safari starts and ends in Arusha.

The cost of this 5-day Camping Safari is 590 Euro or its $750usd per person.

You will also be asked to tip the cook and driver at the end of the trip, 5 USD per day to the cook, 10 USD per day to the driver.

•Entrance fees.
•Full board and accommodation.
•Driver and guide in a 4x4 vehicle.
•Game drives.
•Extra bottle of water daily.
•Visit to a Maasai village in Ngorongoro, on the way to Serengeti
•Visit to Olduvai Gorge in Ngorongoro.

If the start dates for the safari do not fit with your volunteer work stay, the coordinator can arrange a break in your volunteer job, so you can return to work after the safari.

  • 1. PLAINS AND MIGRATION SAFARI TO AMBOSELI AND MAASAI MARA GAME RESERVE FOR 5DAYS/4 NIGHTS, PRICE IS $2,000USD PER PERSON From the shadows of the pink tinged peaks of Mt. Kilimanjaro in Amboseli, to centre stage at nature’s most dramatic arena in the Masai Mara experience the classic Hollywood image of an African Safari DAY 1. from Nairobi to Amboseli National Park This morning depart by road and continue to Amboseli national park and arrives at the Amboseli Serena Lodge set in the Shadow of Mt. Kilimanjaro "Africa’s Highest Mountain" in time for Lunch. After Lunch relax by the pool for a while departing later in the afternoon for another Game viewing drive. DAY2. Amboseli National Park Full day at Amboseli national park with morning and afternoon game drives, where among the Elephants we also find Zebra, Giraffe, Waterbuck and Hippo just to mention a few. You can enjoy a Bush dinner in the evening, Meals and Overnight at Amboseli Lodge. DAY 3. Amboseli to Masai Mara via Nairobi Breakfast at the Amboseli Serena Lodge. After Breakfast depart to Nairobi by road to arrive at Nairobi Serena Hotel in time for Lunch. After lunch depart to Nairobi Wilson Airport to connect an afternoon flight to Maasai Mara. Met and transferred to Mara Serena Safari Lodge set on the Saddle of a hill overlooking the Rolling plains, woodlands and rivers that make up the "Mara Triangle" - one of the World’s Richest Wildlife sanctuaries to check in and then depart on an afternoon Game drive. DAY4. Masai Mara Game Reserve A full day at Masai Mara. Morning and Afternoon game drives across the plains. Vast herds of Wildebeest and Zebra wander across the Mara grasslands, their numbers increasing during the annual migration from the Serengeti national Park. Lion, Leopard and Cheetah follow close behind while Crocodile and Hippo congregate in the Mara and Tale rivers. DAY 5.Masai Mara Game Reserve to Nairobi After early morning game drive you are transferred to Mara Serena airstrip for a scheduled flight to Nairobi for onward travel. You can choose to extend your safari to a Serena Beach Hotel & Spa for that ultimate beach getaway. SAFARI DETAILS SAFARI INCLUDES: Return flight Mara from Nairobi Airstrip transfers Mara Serena Safari Lodge. Return road transportation Nairobi to Amboseli. Full board accommodation. Bush Barbeque Dinner at Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge.
  • 2.  Hippo Pool Breakfast at Mara Serena Safari Lodge. Game drives in 4X4 game drive vehicles Park entrance fees SAFARI DOES NOT INCLUDE: Expenses of a personal nature, laundry, telephone calls, drinks and beverages and personal travel insurances. Note: Departure is daily from Nairobi Wilson Airport to the lodge TERMS & CONDITIONS Rates: All rates are quoted on a per person basis unless otherwise stated and are inclusive of all relevant taxes, levies, surcharges and service charges. Tour costs are based on all known costs and rates of exchange as at the 01st July 2010. Should these be subject to change in the interim (due to reasons beyond the control of MICATZ), they will be passed on to the client. MICATZ retains the right to alter any arrangements (as outlined above), which may become necessary due to prevailing local conditions/and/or events beyond our control. Confirmations and deposits: Upon confirmation of your safari details, we will require a 25% non-refundable deposit on the total cost of the tour, the balance of which must be paid 46 days prior to your arrival. We regret that in the absence of the above, we will be unable to confirm your safari; and in the absence of our receipt of full payment as indicated, your reservation will be cancelled (with the forfeit of the 25% deposit indicated). Cancellations: All cancellations must be made in writing to us at the address indicated below. Cancellations will be incurred as indicated below: Between 30-45 days prior to date of commencement of tour: no refund of deposit. Below 30 days prior to the date of the commencement of the tour no refund of the remaining tour costs. Refunds/cancellation levies: We regret that in the event that any portion of your safari is unused (after the safari has commenced) no refunds regarding the unused portion will be possible. Note: these Cancellation terms do not include the cancellation penalties levied on airfares (locally or internationally). Payment: We accept payment via the following credit cards: Visa, Access/Master Card, American Express, JCB, Senator, and Diners Club International. We also accept proprietary

We regret that we are unable to accept personal cheques in the absence ofprior clearance.Child policy: Children under the age of two sharing a room with one or two adults areaccommodated on a complimentary basis. Children between the ages of two and twelve sharing aroom with one or two adults will be charged 50% of the adult rate or 75% of this rate if they areaccommodated in a separate room.
