      • Linkedin gives you a voice on search engines
      • Linkedin affords you the ability to send a generic resume via link
      • Linkedin provides a place to network with business owners
      • Linkedin allows you to meet prospective employers, industry powerhouses
      • Linkedin is a great place to establish yourself as a thought leader

    • Enter your name on                what comes up?
      • If you have a linked in profile odds are it is one of the things that will! 
      • You are providing information you control!
      • Your name may come up when your title or company is searched
    You have been Google'd
  • 4. Do you have a link to your resume?
    • This may seem like a weird question but it isn't... 
    • Times you may need to send/have a link to your resume
      • A chance meeting with an HR rep
      • An emergency hire situation (these happen)
      • Add the link in your e-mail signature when corresponding with someone you might want to work for
      • You don't have access to or you loose your hard drive
  • 5. Do you have a link to your Resume? Linkedin even allows you to include a portfolio of work!

      • Find connections using e-mail addresses 
      • See people that are within 3 degrees of separation 
      • Get inside information about possible employment opportunities
      • Join Groups relevant to your industry

    • Who are you connected to?
    I know Joe... Joe knows Heather... Heather knows Chris... I can use linked in to get introduced

    • Find Jobs and know if your connections are linked to the posting!
    Tips: -Ask connections about the opportunity and actually talk to the person interviewing. -Use common contact as a reference

    • In the book Groundswell a marketing research company highlighted the fact the business owners love Discussion Boards. 
    • Linkedin is wisely built their groups around discussion boards business owners are very likely to use them!

    These are industry groups, they show areas of interest and are filled with people working in these fields.  Groups are a great resource for research projects, particularly if you need to get real time information or quotes.

    • The groups themselves are fairly simple, each group is a little different though. No matter what happens just be sure to stay professional, even if other people aren't!
