  2. 2. <ul><li>Rubus ulmifolius </li></ul><ul><li>Family- Rosaceae </li></ul><ul><li>Silva </li></ul><ul><li>Physical features: </li></ul><ul><li>It’s a vivacious bush showing long stalks with thorns.The sprouts are strong with little thorns. The leaves are odd, 3-5 small oval foliolos, dentate,whitish colour under leave. </li></ul>
  3. 3. <ul><li>Flowers , slightly pink and seldom are white.They are hermafrodit and have 5 aciculate and 5 wrinkled petals. The stamen and carpel indeterminate.Blooming in May and August. Fruit ,delicious wild blackberry,red cloured turning into black when fully developed. </li></ul><ul><li>Habitat: </li></ul><ul><li>Wild growths ,woods, clearings or formimg fences in wet places. </li></ul>
  4. 4. <ul><li>Medical uses: </li></ul><ul><li>The leaves are used before blooming, the flowers while in button, the sprouts and the berries are used to treat diabetes, diarrhea, aphtahe and hoarseness. </li></ul><ul><li>Propagation: </li></ul><ul><li>This the most spontaneous specie of the Rubus family.in the south of the country. </li></ul>

  7. 7. <ul><li>Utilization by man </li></ul><ul><li>-It is used to make flutes, baskets and arrows. </li></ul><ul><li>-The upper part is used in New Year’s rituals. </li></ul><ul><li>-It is used to build fences. </li></ul>
  8. 8. <ul><li>-It has ornamental uses. </li></ul><ul><li>– Industry makes cellulose from the upper part. </li></ul><ul><li>A-The root is used to treat scorpion stungs. </li></ul>
