  • 2. • “Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness” James 1:21 • God always wants this – a prerequisite – Get away from whatever keeps you from a proper focus on worshiping God. Zechariah 3:3-4 – Get clean hands and a pure heart. Psalm 24:3-4 – Have pure relationships. Matthew 5:23-24 – Put away all things that will prevent your spiritual success and growth. 1 Peter 2:1-2
  • 3. • “Receive with meekness the implanted word…” • Our hearts are to be focused on receiving God’s Holy Word and being edified. Mt. 15:8-9; 28:20 – While we pray and during the Bible lesson… Acts 2:42; 1 Cor. 14:15, 26 – As we sing… Colossians 3:16 – In the Lord’s Supper… 1 Cor. 11:23-26 – In giving as we have prospered. 1 Cor. 16:1-3
  • 4. • “But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves” James 1:22 • You must apply the lessons and follow them. – We must do the will of God. Matthew 7:21 – If we want to be justified with God… Rom. 2:13 – In order to be truly blessed… James 1:23-25
  • 5. • Let us always work to be in tune with God and walk with Him each day. • Are you saved in Jesus Christ? If not take these steps to salvation: – Hear and believe the gospel. Rom. 1:16-17 – Repent of sinful living. Acts 2:38 – Confess your faith in Christ. Acts 8:37 – Be baptized into Christ. Romans 6:3-6 – Then be faithful and growing. 2 Peter 3:18; Rev. 2:10
