What Scares You

  1. 2. <ul><li>Everyone knows what it’s like to be afraid. </li></ul><ul><li>Sometimes hidden fears motivate us. </li></ul><ul><li>It is right to fear God!!! </li></ul><ul><li>Mt. 10:28; Heb. 12:28; </li></ul><ul><li>Heb. 13:5-6 </li></ul>
  2. 3. <ul><li>Two basic categories of fear: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Good – Fear God, common sense, keeps us from doing foolish things. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>Need to learn the difference… Heb. 5:14 </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Bad - “Spirit of fear,” not rational, keeps us from doing what we should do. Mt. 25:25 </li></ul></ul>

  4. 5. <ul><li>Satan’s purposes for our fear! </li></ul><ul><li>He uses the “spirit of fear”… </li></ul><ul><ul><li>To make our lives miserable: </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>i.e. worries, fears Phil. 4:6-7; 1 Tim. 6:6-10 </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>To make us ineffective: Mt. 25:26-27 </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>We don’t share our faith because of fear. </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><ul><li>We don’t get involved in service because of fear. </li></ul></ul></ul></ul>
  5. 6. <ul><li>Satan’s methods for using fear: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>He uses our past sins… Heb. 8:12 </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>He uses the possibilities of the future… Jas. 4:13-16 </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>He uses the potential of failure… Jas. 4:7-10 </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>He uses the certainty of criticism… 1 Pet. 4:10-16 </li></ul></ul><ul><li> Satan is a master at using our fears </li></ul><ul><li>to stop us, to bind us, and to rob us! </li></ul>

Phil. 4:13 </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>The power to be saved… Rom. 5:9 </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>The power to be a witness for Him.   9. 10. <ul><li>Conquering fear is not a matter of self- determination, it is a matter of dependence on the God whom we can trust and love. </li></ul><ul><li>Who do you trust? Trust Jesus today! </li></ul><ul><li>Come to Him and be saved: How? </li></ul><ul><li>Hear Him Mt. 17:5 Trust Him Heb. 11:6 </li></ul><ul><li>Repent so you can live for Him Lk. 13:3 Confess Him Acts 8:37 Be Baptized into Jesus Christ Acts 22:16 </li></ul>
