    1. 2. Introduction: <ul><li>Nobody is immune to the lure of the sinful world. </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Satan tested Jesus and will test us. Matthew 4:1-11; 1 Peter 5:8-9 </li></ul></ul><ul><li>We can choose to not be like the sinful world around us: The Occult, Witchcraft, Prodigal living, etc. 1 Jn. 2:15-17 </li></ul><ul><li>Let us consider God’s word on the subject of Standing Firm in the Faith. Deut. 18:9-12; 2 Corinthians 6:14-7:1 </li></ul>

What Is Halloween? <ul><li>An annual holiday observed on October 31, which commonly includes activities such as trick-or-treating, attending costume parties, carving jack-o-lanterns…, visiting haunted attractions, playing pranks, telling scary stories, and watching horror stories. </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Origins: Pagan feasts (Roman, Celtic, Denominational churches) </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Dealing with supernatural powers, and the festival of the dead. ( ) </li></ul></ul>

What Is Halloween? <ul><li>“… is the Number One satanic &quot;holiday&quot; of the year.” </li></ul><ul><li>“ Halloween used to be called Samhain, and is still celebrated as an ancient pagan festival of the dead by witches all over the world. Unfortunately, just giving the date a &quot;holy&quot; name like All Hallows' Eve or All Saints' Eve cannot change its grisly character. Halloween is an occasion when the ancient gods (actually demons) are worshiped with human sacrifice.” (Should Christians celebrate Halloween? By W.     4. 5. Rethinking Halloween <ul><li>Knowing what Halloween includes, i.e. death, mischief, glorifying the occult, demons, horror, etc., Why would you celebrate it? Proverbs 8:36; 6:18 </li></ul><ul><li>We are commanded not to become involved with the unfruitful works of darkness ( Eph. 5:11 ). </li></ul><ul><li>Christians actually burned the witchcraft type books. Acts 19:11-20 </li></ul>
    5. 6. Rethinking Halloween <ul><li>Today we need to look at the Bible, God’s Word and see what He instructs us. Jn. 8:32 </li></ul><ul><li>“ Witchcraft,” was punishable by death in the Old Law. Exodus 22:18; Leviticus 19:31; 20:6, 27 </li></ul><ul><li>Today God wants them all to repent and come to Christ. Acts 8:9-24 </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Sorcery is opposed to Christianity and can cause people to turn away from the Faith. Acts 13:6-12; cf. Phil. 1:27 </li></ul></ul>
    6. 7. How To Stand Firm 1 Corinthians 16:13-14 <ul><li>1Thes. 5:21-22 “but test everything; hold fast what is good. Abstain from every form of evil.” </li></ul><ul><li>Jas. 1:27 “…keep oneself unstained from the world.” </li></ul><ul><li>3 John 11 “Beloved do not imitate what is evil, but what is good…” </li></ul><ul><li>Rom. 12:9 “…Abhor what is evil, cling to what is good” </li></ul>

How To Stand Firm 1 Corinthians 16:13-14 <ul><li>Don’t follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. 1 Timothy 4:1 </li></ul><ul><li>Have nothing to do with the unfruitful deeds of darkness or anything like it. Ephesians 5:11; Galatians 5:19-21 </li></ul><ul><li>Think about pure, noble, lovely things. Phil.4:8 </li></ul><ul><li>Follow Christ’s example. 1 Cor. 11:1 </li></ul><ul><li>Do everything to the glory of God. 1Cor.10:31 </li></ul>
    8. 9. How To Stand Firm 1 Corinthians 16:13-14 <ul><li>Parents, train up a child in the way he should go. Prov. 22:6 </li></ul><ul><li>Don’t cause any little ones to sin Mt. 18:6 ESV </li></ul><ul><li>Learn to discern between good and evil. Hebrews 5:12-14 </li></ul><ul><li>Submit to God, resist the devil, draw near to God, purify your hearts. James 4:7-8 </li></ul><ul><li>Take your stand against the devil’s schemes. Eph. 6:10-18; Romans 13:12 </li></ul>
    9. 10. Be In the World, But Not of It! John 17:14-15 <ul><li>Be set free from sin, come to Jesus today! John 8:32, 34; Hebrews 5:9 </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Hear and believe the gospel. Romans 1:16-17; 10:17; Mark 16:15 </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Repent of sin… Acts 2:38 </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Confess Jesus… Acts 8:37 </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Be baptized into Christ… Rom. 6:3-6 </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Be faithful… Rev. 2:10; John 14:15 </li></ul></ul>
