    1. 2. <ul><li>We assemble each week in part to remember our Lord by partaking of the Lord’s supper. Acts 20:7; 1 Cor. 16:1-2 </li></ul><ul><li>Most Christians do understand the meaning of the Lord’s supper, but it is good to be reminded of how important it really is. </li></ul><ul><li>So what is the true meaning of the Lord’s supper? </li></ul>
    2. 3. It’s Origin <ul><li>Jesus instituted the Lord’s supper. </li></ul><ul><li>Mt. 26:26-29; Mk. 14:22-25; Lk. 22:14-20 </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Christians observed it weekly… Acts 2:42; 20:7 </li></ul></ul><ul><li>We need to know its significance and observe it properly. 1 Cor. 11:27,29 </li></ul>
    3. 4. It is a Commemoration <ul><li>It’s to be observed in the memory of Christ. </li></ul><ul><li>Luke 22:19 </li></ul><ul><li>Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection is the heart of the gospel and redemption. </li></ul><ul><li>1 Cor. 15:1-4 </li></ul>We’re often told to remember what God has commanded. 2 Peter 3:1; Rev. 2:5

It is a Communion <ul><li>The cup and bread are a communion of the body and blood of Christ. 1 Cor. 10:16 </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Communion is koinonia… “ participation or sharing” in the benefits of Jesus’ blood & body. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>This communion brings us to realize our union with Christ. 1 Cor. 10:14-22 </li></ul></ul>Therefore, the Lord’s supper is proved to be of benefit for Christians only. Mt. 26:29; Col. 1:13
    5. 6. It is a Communion… <ul><li>The Lord’s supper is a two-fold communion. </li></ul><ul><ul><li>With Christ: In eating the Lord’s supper we signify our union with Christ. 1 Cor. 10:16 </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>With one another: We show we are united with one another. We are one body and mutual sharers of His grace. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Rom. 12:5; 1 Cor. 10:17 </li></ul></ul>
    6. 7. It is a Proclamation <ul><li>The Lord’s supper is an announcement or declaration! 1 Cor. 11:26 </li></ul><ul><li>By this we’re reminded, we need to proclaim His death to all. 1 Cor. 2:1-2; Mk. 16:15-16 </li></ul><ul><li>We must be here to have union and communion with Christ. Heb.10:24-26 </li></ul>
    7. 8. It’s a Dedication of a New Covenant <ul><li>“ This cup is the New Covenant in My blood” 1 Cor. 11:25 </li></ul><ul><li>It represents the blood-ratified covenant between Christ and Christians. Heb.13:20-21 </li></ul><ul><li>Reminds us of Christ promises, & our promise: </li></ul><ul><li>Eph. 1:3; Exodus 24:7; Romans 6 </li></ul>
    8. 9. It’s an Anticipation… <ul><li>We are to observe it, “ Until He comes ” </li></ul><ul><li>The hope of Christ’s second coming fills our hearts! 1 Cor. 11:26; Acts 1:11 </li></ul><ul><ul><li>We should have this hope rekindled within us every week as we observe the Lord’s supper. </li></ul></ul>
    9. 10. <ul><li>This is the significance of the Lord’s supper, there is far more involved than what meets the eye of the casual observer. </li></ul><ul><li>If properly observed by Christians, it will result in greater love, appreciation, unity, faith, zeal, obedience, hope, and joy. </li></ul><ul><li>Let us be sure that we truly appreciate the meaning of the Lord’s supper, and as a result partake of it only in a worthy manner. </li></ul>
    10. 11. <ul><li>Become a Christian today by… </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Hearing and learning the truth Jn. 6:45 </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Belief in the truth Rom. 10:10 </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Repenting of sin Acts 3:19 </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Confessing Jesus Acts 8:37 </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Baptism into Christ Acts 22:16 </li></ul></ul>
