      • Let’s consider the problem of “secret sin”.
        • There’s no real secret sin! Hebrews 4:13; 1 Chronicles 28:9; Ps. 90:8
      • Jesus teaches us to cut sin out of our lives. Matthew 5:27-30; 18:6-9
      • What can we do to help ourselves avoid “secret sin” or even cut it out?
    • 3. Secret Sin: A Deceiver
      • Ananias and Sapphira thought they could hide their sin. Acts 5:1-11; 1 Cor. 15:33
        • Underneath “secret sin” lies a lie! Luke 12:1-3
        • Underneath this false concept we deceive ourselves, not God! Gal. 6:7-8; Titus 3:3
        • Our sin will find us out, there is no true secret sin, because God knows all! Numbers 32:23
        • So called secret sin brought destruction for Ananias and Sapphira. Acts 5:5, 10
        • Any sin will ultimately bring the same for us! Romans 6:23
    • 4. Truth Sets Us Free From Sin!
      • The Truth sets us free! Jn. 8:32-34; 17:17
      • Always be open and honest.
        • With God. 1 John 1:9; Proverbs 28:13
        • With men. Ephesians 4:25; James 5:16
        • With self. James 1:22
      • Ananias and Sapphira lied by hiding the truth. Acts 5:1-4
      • We cannot hide sin from God and it will all be made known someday. Lk. 12:1-3
        • The best thing we can do is repent and ask God to forgive us of our sin! Acts 8:20-24
    • 5. Don’t Try To Hide Your Sin!
      • Sin has no real lasting value!
        • The idea that sin’s “grass is greener” is false.
        • Sin has its consequences! “It’s stupid to trade an ounce of temporal pleasure for an eternal weight of punishment.” Hebrews 11:24-27; Matthew 25:46; Mark 9:42-48
        • Example of Greed’s deception… 1 Tim.6:6-10
          • Our soul’s salvation is worth more than the whole world! Matthew 16:26
        • We need to esteem the reproach of Christ greater riches and look to the eternal reward!
    • 6. Do Away With Sin Starters!
      • Don’t allow temptations to stir in your heart, exterminate them with the Sword (God’s word)! Eph. 6:17; Hebrews 4:12
      • Temptation is the poison, truth is the cure.
      • James 1:12-16; 1 Corinthians 10:12-13
        • We must correctly endure temptation to receive the eternal reward. God does not tempt us…
        • We are drawn away by our own desires, enticed
        • Desire can give birth to sin and sin brings death.
        • Do not err (do not be turned from the right way).
      • Control your thoughts and make the escape!
    • 7. Cutting Out Secret Sin
      • To cut out this sin we must…
        • Take the Temptation escape tunnel!
        • Turn the light on our sin and expose it for what it really is – death in disguise!
        • Use the whole truth to set us free so we can live life to its fullest!
        • Not let any other forces to lead us astray – even our friends and loved ones!
      • Sin separates you from God. Is. 59:1-2
      • Jesus is the ONLY way back to God! Jn. 14:6; Hebrews 5:8-9; Eph. 1:7
    • 8. Be Saved From Sin Today! John 8:36
      • Come to Jesus Christ, become a Christian!
        • Come to Jesus by hearing and learning the gospel. 1 Cor. 15:3-4; Romans 1:16-17; 10:17
        • Faith allows us to come to Jesus. Heb. 11:6
        • Repentance brings us to Christ. Acts 2:38
        • Confessing Christ saves us. Romans 10:9-10
        • Baptism puts us into Christ, saving us from sin. Romans 6:3-6; 1 Peter 3:21; Acts 22:16
        • Faithfulness keeps us with Christ. 2 Jn. 9; Rev. 2:10
