I know that becoming astudent at a new campus can be an overwhelming feeling, having to worry about learning the new campus, new professors, books, living space, etc. I’m sure the last thing you want is another caused by something as small as an e-mail. That’s why I created this tutorial, in order to explain the in’s and out’s of the TSTC Mymail system. You will learn how to read and sort out your inbox, compose new e-mails, add hyperlinks and attachments, etc. Now let’s begin shall we.

    • Logging In
Log in to your TSTC MyMail account at www.mymail.tstc.edu. Be sure to have your username and password ready.
Your username is your first initial and middle initials (if one exists) and last name followed by numbers assigned t you when you first register. ex. ahernandez29528
If you have never logged in, your initial password will be the last six digits of your Student/Employee ID Number.
Username and password are case sensitive and both fields are required.
*( keep track of your username and password, don’t check “remember my password” unless you are on a personal computer)

Once you have successfully logged into your mymail account you will a layout similar to other e-mail systems, but with a little dash of TSTC flavor. You can now read your e-mails from your inbox, organize the important and not-so-important messages, and compose e-mails to send to other students/professors, the choice is yours.

On the top next to the mymail logo is a search bar designed to easily find certain important e-mails, just simply type in any keywords from an e-mail and let the program do the searching for you.
Right under the mymail logo is a button that says “Compose mail” which is used to create e-mails to send, we'll get into that section later.
Under the Compose mail button is the main menu. This is used to navigate throughout the pages: Inbox, Starred meassages (flagged), Important, Sent Mail, Drafts.
Under the main menu is the chat menu which lets you send messages back and forth with anybody located in your Contacts
To the right of the main menu is the body of the mymail system. This is where you can find all of the messages contained in any of the subfolders from the main menu. (Inbox, Sent Mail, etc.)

When composing an e-mail you must enter the recipients address in the “To:” bar. Ex. Math.professor@mymail.tstc.edu. You are allowed to send one message to multiple addresses, just be sure to separate each one with a comma.
Once you have all the recipients ready be sure to add a subject title in the “subject” bar. Ex. “Reason for absence from class”
Once all that is ready, you can begin typing out the content of the message in the body window. Here you can say anything you need to, just remember to keep it netiquittely appropriate.
If you have to insert any kind of image or file attachment, simply click the “attach a file “ link located right under the subject box. Once you click it a dialog box will pop up asking you to find the file you wish to attach. Once you’ve located the file click open on the dialog box and the Mymail system will attach as a download for the recipient(s).

To insert a hyperlink to a certain website click on the Chanlink icon located right on top of the Main body of your message. A dialog box will appear asking for “Text to Display” and “To what URL should this link to?”
Simply enter the text you want the recipient the click on in the “Text to Display” box and enter the URL address in the “To what URL should this link to?”box.
If done properly the text entered in the “Text to Display” box should come up blue in the main body.
