      • A plant whose stem does not produce woody, persistent tissue and generally dies back at the end of each growing season.
      • Valued for qualities such as medicinal properties, flavor, scent, or the like.
      • Herbs, such as ginger, may be used fresh, and are commonly chopped into smaller pieces.
    4. What is Spice
      • A spice is a dried seed, fruit, root, bark or vegetative substance used in nutritionally insignificant quantities as a food additive for the purpose of flavoring, and sometimes as a preservative.
      • Spices sometimes are grounded or grated into a powder.
