  • 1. First Week of Advent Jesus, be our hope this Advent . Leader: Our hope is in the coming of the Lord. All: May hope and love dwell in our hearts this first Week of Advent.
  • 2. For many long centuries the faithful looked forward to the coming of the Messiah. We look forward with the eyes of faith.
    • Leader:
    • Jesus Christ, Emmanuel, come and dwell with us.
    • Desire of all nations, and
    • Gift to every generation:
    • Come, make your home with us.
    • All:
    • Come, come, Emmanuel,
    • Son of God, appear!
    • Heaven and earth rejoice,
    • Salvation is drawing near!

    • Let us pray that faith, hope and love be strengthened in us this first week of Advent:
    • Lighting of the First Candle of Advent
    • Let us pray together:
    • All: Come, Lord Jesus!
    • Open our hearts and our minds
    • to all that you give us and teach us
    • during these days of Advent.
  • 4. Scripture Message
    • Our Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil;
    • cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in
    • brotherly and sisterly love. Honor one another
    • above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal,
    • and keep on serving the Lord.
    • Be joyful in hope, be patient when hard things
    • come your way, and be faithful in prayer.
    • Share with God's people who are in need. Practice
    • hospitality.
  • 5. Our Response
    • All:
    • May this word from God
    • be in our minds and hearts
    • as we celebrate this first week
    • of Advent.
    • Come, Lord Jesus! Help us to love.
    • Amen.
