  • 1. First Week of Advent Jesus, be our hope this Advent . Leader: Our hope is in the coming of the Lord. All: May hope and love dwell in our hearts this first Week of Advent.
  • 2. For many long centuries the faithful looked forward to the coming of the Messiah. We look forward with the eyes of faith. <ul><li>Leader: </li></ul><ul><li>Jesus Christ, Emmanuel, come and dwell with us. </li></ul><ul><li>Desire of all nations, and </li></ul><ul><li>Gift to every generation: </li></ul><ul><li>Come, make your home with us. </li></ul><ul><li>All: </li></ul><ul><li>Come, come, Emmanuel, </li></ul><ul><li>Son of God, appear! </li></ul><ul><li>Heaven and earth rejoice, </li></ul><ul><li>Salvation is drawing near! </li></ul><ul><li>Salvation is drawing near! </li></ul><ul><li>© 2004, Steve Angrisano, OCP.   • 3. <ul><li>Leader: </li></ul><ul><li>Let us pray that faith, hope and love be strengthened in us this first week of Advent: </li></ul><ul><li>Lighting of the First Candle of Advent </li></ul><ul><li>Let us pray together: </li></ul><ul><li>All: Come, Lord Jesus! </li></ul><ul><li>Open our hearts and our minds </li></ul><ul><li>to all that you give us and teach us </li></ul><ul><li>during these days of Advent. </li></ul>
  • 4. Scripture Message <ul><li>Our Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; </li></ul><ul><li>cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in </li></ul><ul><li>brotherly and sisterly love. Honor one another </li></ul><ul><li>above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, </li></ul><ul><li>and keep on serving the Lord. </li></ul><ul><li>Be joyful in hope, be patient when hard things </li></ul><ul><li>come your way, and be faithful in prayer. </li></ul><ul><li>Share with God's people who are in need. Practice </li></ul><ul><li>hospitality. </li></ul>
  • 5. Our Response <ul><li>All: </li></ul><ul><li>May this word from God </li></ul><ul><li>be in our minds and hearts </li></ul><ul><li>as we celebrate this first week </li></ul><ul><li>of Advent. </li></ul><ul><li>Come, Lord Jesus! Help us to love. </li></ul><ul><li>Amen. </li></ul>
