The advent of new mobile data solutions has changed the way we work. Being able to access Email on the move is now a necessity for businesses. New technologies make accessing your office applications whilst out in the field a reality and provide a valuable service. Software and devices are constantly being developed to increase the remote users productivity. But what is right for your business?

At this FREE presentation Antony Morse of O2 will looked at the current mobile services, the challenges in accessing office systems in the field and introduced some new services designed to assist with other aspects of out of the office communications. The specific challenges addresesed were:

Field Force Automation - Workflow - Jobs are allocated from office to device - Engineer accepts job – Fed back to office - Engineer indicates he has arrived at job and reads instructions – Fed back - Work undertaken is fed back, job completion and signature are captured and time stamped - Links to stock ordering and technical support apps - All data including signature is captured and stored invoice raised

Tracking - GPS • Pinpoint Location Tracking through use of GPS and GPRS • Linked to Satellite Navigation Software on the mobile device for road or pedestrian • No need for fixed vehicle tracker – installation costs nil • Allows accurate personnel tracking – no leaving vehicles on site • Useful for workers in hazardous jobs – • Ability to Manage Fleets and link to job allocation software for closest vehicle allocation • Effective two way communication – 1-400 text cost
