Teracotta Warriors

WARRIORS <ul><li>Terracotta army </li></ul><ul><li>Discovered by Chinese peasants while digging a well in 1974. </li></ul><ul><li>The warriors were buried with the emperor of Qin {Qin Shi Huang }209-210BC. </li></ul><ul><li>The purpose of the warriors was to help rule another empire with Shi Huang in his after life. </li></ul><ul><li>To watch a clip of the terracotta army go to Google videos. </li></ul>
  2. 2. <ul><li>There were 8,000 men and horses. </li></ul><ul><li>They also had a weapon called a PI. </li></ul><ul><li>The warriors were all facing east ready for battle. </li></ul><ul><li>The warriors are over 2,000 years old. </li></ul>
  3. 3. <ul><li>The construction of the army began in 246 BC and took 700,000 workers to complete. (that’s not them of course!) </li></ul>
  4. 4. <ul><li>The army was found within a compound which has several offices, halls and other structures and was surrounded by a wall with gateway entrances. </li></ul>
  5. 5. <ul><li>The remains of several craftsmen working in the tomb have also been found </li></ul><ul><li>It is believed that they were locked inside to stop them from telling anyone. </li></ul>
  6. 6. <ul><li>The tomb also had four large stairways </li></ul><ul><li>It is believed they were built to aid the departure of the Emperors soul. </li></ul>
