  • 1. Asthma Relief - 5 Tips for Instant Asthma Relief Asthma is a condition of the bronchial tubes characterized by chronic inflammation of the airways. The bronchial tubes become swollen and constricted making breathing difficult. The inflammation may also produce excessive mucus plugs further blocking the airways. Symptoms of asthma may include wheezing, chronic coughing, shortness of breath and tightness in the chest. Asthma is often triggered environmentally when the individual is sensitive to an irritant or allergen such as smoke, dust, mold and pollen in the air. Respiratory infections may trigger asthma attacks. Flare-ups may occur upon exercising. Symptoms of asthma vary from mild to very severe, which often require a trip to the emergency room. Remove all asthma causing allergens or irritants from the home, like tobacco smoke, scented candles and spray or plug-in type room deodorizers. Reduce pet dander by grooming pets regularly. 4. Avoid toxic products from the home like chlorine and ammonia found in cleaning products. But do clean your home regularly. It is a good idea to wear a mask to reduce breathing the dust particles that fly around during dusting and vacuuming. 5. Lower humidity helps asthmatics breath easier. Mold, which is an allergen, grows in damp places such as basements and bathrooms. Use a dehumidifier within the home if you live in a damp climate or if your basement tends to be humid. An air conditioner also provides asthma relief as it lowers the humidity and reduces allergens in the air. Be sure to check filters regularly to keep contaminants to a minimum.
