  4. 4. • The movement of substances through the cell membrane without the input of energy is called: passive transport• There are 3 types of passive transport: • diffusion • osmosis • facilitated diffusion

But there are cases where the plant would still need more minerals.• The minerals would then need to move across the membrane and into the cell, from a low concentration to a high concentration.• To do this energy is needed.
