    2. The year 1492  Colombus sailed the Pacific Ocean from Europe & discovered America  In Rome, pope Alexander VI from Aragon began his reign  Ferdinand & Isabella were in rule at the time The Moorish palace of Alhambra in Granada, Spain
    3. The year 1492  In 1453 Ottoman was established as the capital of Istanbul  Istanbul is known as “the place that is like paradise” Istanbul, Turkey
    4. The year 1492  The “Spice Islands were known for their cloves, they were prized by Europeans for their flavor and often used on meats.  Different spices and nutmeg were found on the island. The Cedar Forest in Lebanon
    5. The year 1492  The compass was invented in China & became indispensable to Columbus.  Paper was invented and in later years was traded with Europe for other goods. The Chinese mainly used it for ceremonial & religious occasions. Outside of the Forbidden City in Beijing, China
